the program has received high viewership in taiwan and was recently searching for a co-host to pair up with janet hsieh for the next season's show. 420 entries, 1 week of screening, 4 days of audition, interviews and challenges, the winner has finally emerged.

nadia hatta has won the much coveted position. the show's popularity is affirmed by janet hsieh's recent nomination for 2009 golden bell best presenter of variety program award.

island cruising

2 september 2009, wednesday

last boarding time: 6.30pm

it marked my virgin cruise to redang island, malaysia. i was travelling with my colleague and 2 other friends for the first time. our recent discussion had centred around the trip, doing countdowns on our facebook with much anticipation leading up to D day.
the usual visual imagery would appear in my mind of us becoming foes and slashing each other's throat by the end of the journey. something i can't help wondering whenever i embark on a trip with companion(s) i've never gone on a holiday with before; the questions of what-ifs swimming around my head.

as it turned out, my worries were unfounded, i soon realised. my colleague is a sound sleeper who would blissfully slip into the deepest slumber where nothing could stir her, even if i tried sawing down the door. such good fortune that i was able to get away with my nocturnal activities in our shared cabin at night.

it was hedonistic yet decadent. a trip where there was constant feeding and excessive amount of food (beer and wine included) consumed, coupled with laughter and happy tears. result: flatulence, tummy aches and toilet breaks (lots of it).

im not sure whether i would try it again but at least i can say i've been on a ship and pretended i was rose dewitt bukater (minus jack dawson- he was still waiting to be sighted) on titanic except (the viewing point was closed) this one didn't sink. it docked back at the port safely. whew.
